Deployment Method:

NOTE

This applies to both open source and commercial editions of Chocolatey.

1. Enter Your Internal Repository Url

(this should look similar to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/)

2. Setup Your Environment

1. Ensure you are set for organizational deployment

Please see the organizational deployment guide

2. Get the package into your environment

  • Open Source or Commercial:
    • Proxy Repository - Create a proxy nuget repository on Nexus, Artifactory Pro, or a proxy Chocolatey repository on ProGet. Point your upstream to https://community.chocolatey.org/api/v2/. Packages cache on first access automatically. Make sure your choco clients are using your proxy repository as a source and NOT the default community repository. See source command for more information.
    • You can also just download the package and push it to a repository Download

3. Copy Your Script

choco upgrade dcode -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'" [other options]

See options you can pass to upgrade.

See best practices for scripting.

Add this to a PowerShell script or use a Batch script with tools and in places where you are calling directly to Chocolatey. If you are integrating, keep in mind enhanced exit codes.

If you do use a PowerShell script, use the following to ensure bad exit codes are shown as failures:

choco upgrade dcode -y --source="'INTERNAL REPO URL'"
$exitCode = $LASTEXITCODE

Write-Verbose "Exit code was $exitCode"
$validExitCodes = @(0, 1605, 1614, 1641, 3010)
if ($validExitCodes -contains $exitCode) {
  Exit 0
}

Exit $exitCode

- name: Install dcode
  win_chocolatey:

    source: INTERNAL REPO URL
    state: present

See docs at https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/latest/modules/win_chocolatey_module.html.

chocolatey_package 'dcode' do
  action :install
  source 'INTERNAL REPO URL'
  version '5.5.21194.40'
end

See docs at https://docs.chef.io/resource_chocolatey_package.html.

Description

DCode™ is a FREE forensic utility for converting data found on desktop and mobile devices into human-readable timestamps. It is the most comprehensive tool available for decoding timestamps and is a must-have utility for your tool box.

The software was designed to assist forensic examiners in identifying and decoding timestamp data during a forensic investigation. It will also allow the reverse process where timestamps can be encoded into a number of different formats and data types.
Encoding and Decoding Timestamp Data

Encoding and Decoding Timestamp Data

DCode™ has support for 69 different timestamp formats from various operating systems and platforms. You can decode values in the form of Little-Endian Hexadecimal, Big-Endian Hexadecimal, 64-bit Integers, 32-bit Integers, Double-precision floating-point numbers and various text formats.

DCode™ also supports time zone translation and will show UTC (Zulu) times and a converted local time based on the selected time zone. If you select the “K” identifier in the timestamp pattern, DCode™ will also display the time zone designator.

Time Zone Translation

When the Select Time Zone button is clicked, the following window is displayed showing a breakdown of all the parameters for each Time Zone. You can also select the No Adjustment button. This allows each timestamp to be decoded without applying any translation.

Supported Timestamp Formats

DCode™ can convert the following timestamps into a number of different input and output formats such as Numeric (Int32, Int64, Double-precision floating-point), Hexadecimal (Little-Endian), Hexadecimal (Big-Endian) and Text.

  • Apple Absolute Time (Seconds)
  • Apple Absolute Time (Nanosecond)
  • Apple HFS
  • Apple HFS+
  • Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) (2-digit Year)
  • Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) Extended (4-digit Year)
  • Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) Reverse Nibble
  • Chromium Time (Microseconds)

  • GSM Time
  • Microsoft Ticks
  • Motorola Timestamp
  • Microsoft FAT MS-DOS (32-bit) Timestamp
  • Microsoft FAT MS-DOS (40-bit) Timestamp
  • Microsoft MS-DOS (32-bit) wFatDate, wFatTime Timestamp
  • Nokia Series 30
  • Nokia Series 40
  • OLE Automation (64-bit Double)
  • Seagate Date Code
  • SYSTEMTIME Structure
  • Unix Seconds
  • Unix Milliseconds
  • Unix Microseconds
  • UUID (Guid) Timestamp
  • Windows Filetime
  • Windows Filetime [dwLow:dwHigh]
  • Windows Filetime Mime Boundary [dwHigh.dwLow]
  • Windows Filetime MSIE Cookie [dwLow,dwHigh]

Filtering Date Ranges

To quickly identify timestamp values which may be important, DCode™ allows you to set a date range which can be used as a filter your results. To configure a date range, select Tools » Options from the menu and select a From and To Date. Once the date range has been saved, you can activate the filter by selecting Tools » Filter Date Range from the menu (or click Ctrl + R). This will filter your results and will only display values where the date falls between your selected range.

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
